Recognizing & Managing Unconscious Bias
Unconscious bias is comprised of the attitudes and/or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. These biases can be either positive or negative, and everyone is susceptible. Having biases doesn’t make you a bad person—it only makes you human. Fortunately, by developing cultural competence and self-awareness some of our implicit biases can be uncovered and managed.
This interactive course during Women in Construction Week creates awareness around unconscious bias and defines underlying factors that may affect our unconscious bias. In addition, participants will identify opportunities to make a positive difference and become more aware of how unconscious bias impacts colleagues and our workplace.
