MAC DONLEY - GUARDIAN AWARD 2022

With over 40 years of experience in the construction industry, Mac Donley is the latest recipient of the Guardian Award. 

Mac joined Donley’s in 1977 as a Carpenter while completing college and became a full-time project engineer in 1980. He advanced to through many roles within the company before becoming CEO in 2002, becoming the company’s fourth-generation family leader. Mac has guided the company’s growth to become more than just a Northeast Ohio company, but to also include offices along the east coast. 

Mac is a great leader, constantly pushing his teams to do their best and succeed. He provides countless opportunities for union members, both with training and with advancement in the company. Mac has been described as genuine, caring and supportive, giving his employees and professional relationships a trusted product that he truly believes in. 

“You could always count on Mac to push forward and each generation of Donley’s has grown the company more than the last. I’m very proud of the work he’s done with our business," says his father, Terry Donley. 

Mac served the industry while building his company. He served as President of the Concrete Contractors Association, on CEA’s Board of Directors since 2008, the CISP Board, Legislative and Scholarship Committees, and on CEA’s bargaining committees for negotiations with the Cement Masons and Laborers. He also served Cleveland’s skilled trades for many years as trustee to the Laborers #310 Pension and Health & Welfare plans.  

“It's pretty humbling to receive [the Guardian Award]… because the people that have received the award in the past were the people for many, many years that you would look up to as good business operators, industry leaders, well-respected, and admired, and now I’m on that list,” says Donley.
