Late Wednesday, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ruled that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is unlawful despite regulations issued by the Biden Administration last year that codified DACA in an effort to preserve its legality.

The George family plans to move the Harry Buffalo, a sports bar mainstay on East Fourth Street in downtown Cleveland, to make way for a new dining and entertainment concept.

Gov. Mike DeWine announced $100 million for funding aimed at helping municipalities eliminate dangerous rail crossings across the state. These funds will also help communities obtain matching federal funds to complete the projects. 

Funding for the Ohio Rail Crossing Elimination program was passed earlier this summer as part of the 2024-25 biennial budget to address the state’s approximately 5,700 “railroad grade crossings” where roadways intersect with railroad tracks.

The Port of Cleveland has adopted a climate action plan that includes the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The emissions target, which align with those adopted by federal and local governments, is part of the port’s overall strategic plan for 2024 through 2028 that was approved by the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority on Thursday.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Economic Policy released a new report entitled, “Labor Unions and the Middle Class,” that highlights the role that labor unions play in the American economy. Overall, the report found that unions play an important role in addressing longstanding challenges faced by the middle class – including stagnant wages, high housing costs, and reduced intergenerational mobility. In doing so, the report explains that unions contribute to a more robust and resilient economy.

President Biden’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has released new final guidance implementing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s (BIL) expanded “Build America, Buy America” Act (BABA) requirements to use U.S. made iron, steel, glass, wood and other construction materials and manufactured products on all construction that receives federal financial assistance where federal funds are appropriated or otherwise made available and used for a project.
