The Cement Masons Local 404 JATC in Cleveland, Ohio, is at the forefront of advancing construction technology training by developing a cutting-edge Robotic Total Station curriculum. This new training program, designed for line-of-sight concrete construction projects, is set to be a game-changer for the industry. Under the leadership of Training Director Barry DiJulius, this curriculum has been in the making for three years and is now poised to be adopted into the international training curriculum, thanks to a collaboration with the Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association (OPCMIA) and the International Training Fund (ITF).

The Robotic Total Station is a highly advanced tool that revolutionizes the accuracy and efficiency of layout work on construction sites. Recognizing the need to equip the workforce with the skills to operate this technology, Barry DiJulius and his team at Local 404 JATC have meticulously developed a comprehensive training program that will soon be implemented throughout Cement Masons JATC’s from around the country. This curriculum is tailored specifically for concrete construction projects that require precise line-of-sight measurements.

From September 16th to 20th, the Cement Masons Local 404 JATC will host a "Train the Trainer" event, where Cement Mason Training Directors from 20 different cities, will come together to learn and adopt this innovative curriculum. The development and dissemination of this curriculum have been made possible through partnerships with Building Point Ohio Valley and Trimble, industry leaders in construction technology. Their support has been instrumental in bringing this curriculum to life and ensuring its relevance and effectiveness in real-world applications.

As this curriculum is rolled out nationally, it will set a new standard for training in the concrete construction industry, reinforcing the role of Local 404 JATC as a leader in innovation and education. Barry DiJulius’s dedication and vision have not only positioned Cleveland at the center of this groundbreaking initiative but have also paved the way for cement masons everywhere to enhance their skills and contribute to the industry's future.
