With an aging workforce, diversification of the regional economy and the educational system's focus on college paths, there is a growing skills shortage in Northeast Ohio's construction and building trades industry. Consequently, these factors threaten Greater Cleveland's economic growth and prosperity by hindering employers who need motivated, skilled tradespersons.
In response to these challenges, Construction Employers Association (CEA) and the Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council (CBCTC) joined forces to develop Cleveland Builds, modeled after Milwaukee's BIG STEP Program.
