How many years have you worked in the industry?
9 Years
What attracted you to the construction industry and what do you enjoy most about your job?
My family has been in construction for over 30 years. I have been around the industry my entire adult life. After being downsized from United Airlines after Cleveland lost its hub status, I entered Laborers Union Local # 310. What I enjoy the most is seeing projects completed and knowing that my company and our team had a part in them.
Have you had any mentors throughout your career? If so, who were they and how did they help you in your career.
I have had people who set an example of how with hard work and persistence woman can move up and become executives and owners in the construction industry. People like Tari Rivera, Anne Burkey and Ariane Kirkpatrick are just a few wonderful examples.
What advice would you give other women that are considering or new to the construction industry?
Do it. Don’t be concerned about entering a predominantly male industry. If you have the aptitude, are willing to perform the work and are dedicated to yourself and the industry, then by all means construction can afford you and your family a great life.
Tell us what you like to do in your free time or give a fun fact about yourself.
My family and I love to visit National Parks. We try to work them into almost every vacation.
