What attracted you to the construction industry and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I remember driving across town with a coworker as they pointed out building after building, each one a testament to the work of their firm. With every structure, I felt a growing sense of admiration—not just for the craftsmanship and effort that went into these projects, but for the lasting impact they had on the community. It was in that moment that I truly understood the depth of what it meant to build something enduring. Being a part of the legacy of the city I grew up in gave my career a deeper meaning, transforming it from a profession into a personal mission. Every foundation laid, every beam raised, and every school or commercial space completed became more than just a job; it became a contribution to the fabric of the place I called home.

Have you had any mentors throughout your career? If so, who were they and how did they help you in your career.

What advice would you give other women that are considering or new to the construction industry?

My advice to women entering the construction industry is to embrace confidence, curiosity, and resilience. Seek mentors, ask questions, and never be afraid to speak up—your voice and perspective are valuable. Build a strong network, continuously expand your knowledge, and take pride in the impact you’re making. Most importantly, trust in your abilities and remember that success in this industry is about expertise, leadership, and determination—not gender.
