How many years have you worked in the industry?

18 years with Precison but I have spend 7 years in plumbing and 3 in concrete.

What attracted you to the construction industry and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I don't have any grand answer except that I was asked to do a favor; as I knew someone in the concrete industry and they couldn't get anyone to come work for them with office skills that they desperately needed. I was hooked after that as the atmosphere was such a different vibe and the amount of things to learn and keep learning was extremely attractive to me. So as life took me to my next phase I would actively look for jobs in the construction industry so I could keep learning as I worked. I continue to learn even after 18 years as processes and equipment are constantly evolving. I am certainly kept on my toes, but never a dull moment.

What advice would you give other women that are considering or new to the construction industry?

I would encourage any woman who wants to be challenged and keep actively learning to find a way into the construction industry. The pathways are limitless and rewarding. Its a field that will always be needed in some way or another. I feel it is an industry that enhances life skills and self sufficiency.

Tell us what you like to do in your free time or give a fun fact about yourself.

I enjoy bike riding. I love riding the towpath in the Cuyahoga Valley and have done several mullti-day trips thru the GAP which runs from Pittsburgh to Cumberland MD. and another of the Erie Canal from Buffalo NY to Rochester NY. Planning to ride from Cincinnati to Cleveland in the next few years.
