How many years have you worked in the industry? 15 years

What attracted you to the construction? What attracted me to the construction industry was that there were so many interesting and different topics to learn about. Construction was not something I was familiar with when I started college. Things are always changing in this industry, which keeps things interesting, and I always enjoy learning about new things. I believe it is important to really love what you do, and being in the construction industry with so many changing and challenging parts makes it easy to enjoy.

What do you enjoy most about your job? I love that every day is always different. Whether I was working in the field, or in the office. It is never boring. I also love being able to interact with so many different types of people.

What advice would you give other women considering the construction industry?

Jump right in and be yourself. This industry benefits from people with different backgrounds and mindsets, use your differences to stand out and highlight your strengths. Don't be afraid to meet and talk to new people and keep a teamwork attitude. Be confident in what you say and do, while still being able to take advice and constructive criticism well.

What can be done to attract more women to construction? More women that are already in this industry need to reach back and bring up the next generation. It also would help to continue to highlight and promote women in this industry to young girls, so they know the opportunities are out there.

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing with my 4-year-old niece, cooking and going to new places with my husband.
