Are You the Victim Of Unemployment Fraud?

As growing numbers of Ohioans are discovering that scammers have filed for unemployment benefits in their names, state officials have set up a new toll-free hotline for victims, as well as a website for employers, to report such fraud.

The hotline, (833) 658-0394, will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Unemployment fraud victims can continue to make reports of identity theft on ODJFS’s website.

More than half of the 1.4 million Pandemic Unemployment Assistance benefits claims made in Ohio to date have been flagged as potentially fraudulent, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said last month. Even Husted, Gov. Mike DeWine, and First Lady Fran DeWine have had claims falsely filed in their names.
