What does your company do?

Our company’s services range from supply and install only of structural steel, miscellaneous metals (stairs & handrail), ornamental metals, glass railings, architectural & structural precast, tower cranes, personnel material hoists, ODOT bridge work (new and retrofit), specialty heat straightening and crane services as well as civil and pipefitting work. FCE’s industrial division provides facility upgrades, equipment installation and maintenance repairs. FCE successfully completes work under a large range of project contract delivery systems including IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) and DA (Design Assist).

What is your favorite part of your job and why?

It is extremely rewarding to see the results of the entire construction process through buildings we have constructed that have changed the skyline of Cleveland and the surrounding areas.

What has been the key to your company's success?

Denise's Mother and Father, Bette and Jim Mirgliotta provided solid leadership and have been successful over the years surrounding themselves with a strong management staff and effective field leadership and personnel. The value of capable qualified, responsible personnel working together and committed to common goals and company objectives cannot be overstated.

What important changes/initiatives are you working on right now?

FCE consistently strives to improve inter-company communication and continues to develop high performance teams within and outside our organization. We are always focused on training individuals from within the company who emulate our values and culture.

How does your company find and retain talent?

Through word of mouth, unions and staffing agencies. Talented people gravitate toward other talented individuals. People want to join FCE team due to our level of expertise and past success within our line of work.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in construction?

The industry is evolving and becoming more complicated, but at the same time allows for an exciting, challenging career that is rewarding multi-faceted, allows people to think on their feet and wear a lot of different hats. Whether working in the field or as a manager, there is great opportunity to earn a successful living.
