What does your company do?

Hahn Loeser is a full-service business law firm with a nationally recognized construction practice group. We advise clients on all aspects of construction, from preconstruction contract negotiations to post construction dispute resolution and everything in between.

What is your favorite part of your job and why?

Working with clients to solve complex disputes. I love the team aspect of working with clients to understand an issue that might be disrupting a project, learning the various personalities on a project, and coming up with a solution to get projects back on schedule.

What has been the key to your company's success?

Teamwork. With over 45 attorneys in our group, we’ve got the bench strength to deal with a variety of issues on a job. We really strive to have a cohesive team that can utilize all of our collective strengths. Everything from employment issues to scheduling, we work together to get the best result for our clients.

What important changes/initiatives are you working on right now?

As a firm, we are working to find ways to keep our clients and the industry stakeholders better informed, including our Construction Law Insights Blog at https://www.constructionlawinsights.com, and creating educational events. We are constantly providing training in-house for clients.

How does your company find and retain talent?

Finding talent starts with a good reputation in the industry so that potential candidates want to join your team. Retention of talent starts with training. It not only shows your investment in your team, but also lends itself to team members who understand their role and are in a position to excel.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in construction?

Find a mentor. No matter whether you’re in construction or law, learning your trade starts with finding someone to show you the ropes.

What CEA initiatives have you been involved with?

Our attorneys helped prepare several CEA training sessions and attended many CEA social events.
