CDC Turf War Breaks Out at Cleveland City Planning Commission Meeting
Questions regarding which organization is responsible for development planning in the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood were raised during a Friday, July 21 Cleveland City Planning Commission meeting.
Representatives of the St. Clair-Superior Development Corporation (SCSDC) object to what's called the "Re-Discover St. Clair-Superior Plan," created by Ward 10 Councilman Anthony Hairston and Famicos Foundation real estate director Khalid Hawthorne. The plan was tabled, and for now there is no timeline for reintroducing it.
The strategic neighborhood planning process for the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood began in early 2019, commissioned by Cleveland City Council with the aim of setting the neighborhood "on a new course that celebrates its past and present, authentically connects with its businesses, provides opportunities for its residents to thrive, and intentionally links the neighborhood to the lake and surrounding assets," according to a 100-plus-page plan.
