Citing record-breaking heat across the United States and world, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on Monday asked the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to implement federal workplace heat standards as soon as possible.

Brown and U.S. Rep. Greg Casar, a Texas Democrat, led a group of Democratic U.S. Senate and House of Representatives members in a letter urging Acting U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Julie Su and Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health Douglas L. Parker to establish an enforceable federal standard to ensure workers and employers can recognize and respond to the signs of heat stress.
