Cleveland State University starts a New Construction Management Degree and CEA Members are Helping to Make it Happen!
"It’s been over 40 years since a college located in the City of Cleveland has offered a Construction Management Program" said Tony DiGeronimo, Board Chair of Construction Employers Association (CEA). “So many of CEA members’ projects are in the city, yet anyone that might be seeking a further their education with a degree in Construction Management would have to travel to neighboring cities’ schools instead of staying close to the heart of it all and where most major construction happens!”
This is why CEA, along with many industry partners, is very proud to support Cleveland State University's new Construction Management Degree program starting this Fall 2024.
Cleveland is a union town, full of workers that make a difference every day building the skyline of our city. The hope of the program is to inspire students to consider management careers in the construction industry.
The program aims to expose students to various disciplines within the construction field and will differ from others by having a stronger connection to contractor influence. The courseload will include:
4-year Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (BSCM) degree
Master of Science in Engineering Systems & Project Management degree
Mandatory co-ops in construction
2+2 arrangements with Tri-C, Lakeland and Lorain Community Colleges
Micro-credentialling programs
The program takes 5 years, with students required to do a co-op for three semesters and will help them to become proficient in all aspects of construction management. The courses taught in the program will cover it all, making graduates key candidates for construction companies in this area. This is why CEA supports these endeavors.
CSU’s new Construction Management Degree offering will strengthen the construction workforce pipeline. “The entire construction industry will benefit from this program and ought to support it,” says Tim Linville, CEO of Construction Employers Association. We are currently raising funds for essential scholarships and the necessary tools and equipment to get the program off the ground. Our goal is $500,000 in capital and, to date, close to $350,000 has been raised!
Please join us in hitting our goal at the Construction Industry CSU fundraiser on Thursday, April 18 at the Ariel International Center in Cleveland. Raffle tickets are being sold to advance funding for the program. Green raffle tickets are $1,000 and enter you in a chance to win Bobcat equipment from Leppo Rents.
