What attracted you to the construction industry and what do you enjoy most about your job?

what truly attracted me to this career was the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with construction. It’s not just about a finished product; it’s about creating something that serves a purpose for people—something that will outlast us. The construction world is one of constant learning, growth, and overcoming challenges, and it’s this environment that makes me excited to continue building my career every day.

I love how construction allows me to blend creativity with practicality, problem-solving with hands-on work, and personal achievement with the satisfaction of contributing to something bigger than myself. It’s not just a job; it’s a passion that keeps me going every day.

Have you had any mentors throughout your career? If so, who were they and how did they help you in your career.

Having spent 25 years in the construction industry, I've had the privilege of working with and learning from many mentors, but no one has left quite the impression on me like Tari Rivera, President of Regency Construction Services, Inc. From the moment I met her, it became clear that she is not only a remarkable businesswoman but also a powerful example of what it means to lead with integrity, dedication, and passion. In the short time I've had the opportunity to observe Tari, I’ve seen a level of commitment and work ethic that is unparalleled. She doesn't just talk about success; she actively builds it, day in and day out. Watching her navigate challenges with poise and drive has been nothing short of inspiring. Tari's ability to balance the demands of a business with the personal care she invests in her team is truly rare. What stands out most about Tari is her relentless pursuit of excellence. Whether it’s negotiating a deal, overseeing complex projects, or guiding her employees, she brings an unmatched energy and focus to everything she does. I've learned more from watching her in action than I could ever express in words. Her work ethic has set a new standard for me, showing me that true leadership is not just about directing others but about rolling up your sleeves and doing the work alongside them. It’s an honor to learn from someone like her, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue observing and growing under her mentorship.

What advice would you give other women that are considering or new to the construction industry?

There will be days when things don’t go as planned, and the challenges may feel overwhelming. But every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Embrace the tough moments because they will shape you into a stronger, more resilient professional. You’ll learn how to problem-solve, adapt, and stay calm under pressure—and those skills are priceless in this industry.
